Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola In Daily Life: 19th Annotation Retreat Ignatius of Loyola, a founder of the religious order of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), underwent a spiritual conversion and discerned a call to the religious life while recovering from surgery. The Spiritual Exercises are a set of Christian meditations, contemplations and prayers written by Ignatius of Loyola. The 19th Annotation Retreat – an Ignatian Retreat in Daily Life – is an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises. The Retreat offers opportunities to form and grow a more mature relationship with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The Retreat introduces methods of prayer with a focus on scripture excerpts (such as imaginative reflection on Gospel scenes, meditation, and contemplation). Through this experience one comes to a greater awareness of God’s presence in their lives and a deepening of one’s faith. There will be informational meetings in the Parish Center on Wednesday September 21st after the 9 a.m. Mass and at 7 p.m. Retreat sessions during the year are scheduled to accommodate the participants.
